  • WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The written examination portion of the test may have multiple steps which may be administered on different days (10% of total score).

PARTICIPATION IN ALL PORTIONS OF THE EXAMINATION PROCESS IS BY OFFICIAL INVITATION ONLY. Candidates who do not participate and successfully pass all parts of the examination process will not be considered for the position.

POSITION DETAILS AND DUTIES:
SUBSTITUTE POSITION: SIX (6), SEVEN (7) OR EIGHT (8) HOURS PER DAY; TEN (10), ELEVEN (11) OR TWELVE (12) MONTHS PER YEAR.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The job of Security Officer is done for the purpose/s of protecting the safety and welfare of students, personnel, facilities, and grounds during classroom and non-classroom activities; patrolling assigned campus buildings and grounds on foot or in a District vehicle; minimizing the frequency and/or severity of harmful incidents; communicating observations and/or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well-being of students, school personnel, and/or visitors; and reporting security violations and incidents during assigned shift.

This job reports to a designated administrator.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from high school OR General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
  • One (1) year of job-related experience.
  • Any other combination of education, training, and experience, which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills, knowledge, or abilities, may be considered.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of SB 390 training and certification, which has been approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Bureau of Security and Investigation Services (BSIS) with the Commission of Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST). Anyone employed on or after July 1, 2021, must submit proof of training and certification(Senate Bill No. 390, Chapter 475)
  • Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by an authorized agency.
  • Valid First Aid certification issued by an authorized agency.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License. Official Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving history record WILLBE REQUIRED UPON OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving history must be dated within the last thirty (30) days of the employment processing period.A DMV record obtained via the internet or online will NOT be accepted.

SATISFACTION OF INITIAL QUALIFICATIONS:You must submit the following documentation(s)/certification(s) by the application closing date:

  • Original High School diploma or GED OR official/unofficial transcripts from High School OR College that denotes graduation from High School OR a College degree (Associate's or higher).
  • Valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Valid First Aid certification issued by an authorized agency.
  • Valid CPR certification issued by an authorized agency.
