How you'll be impactful:

As VP of Engineering for US Marketplace, you will own the technical direction and execution of our web and mobile platforms, which power a two-sided marketplace connecting consumers with advisors. You will lead a team of 35 engineers and QA professionals, and improve process and system reliability across the board. You will lead the execution of our tech stack modernization while maintaining high delivery velocity, ensuring we meet business, product, and tech goals. You will be a key partner to Product, working closely to shape and execute a roadmap grounded in both customer values and engineering feasibility.

As a key member of the USM leadership team, you will serve as a strategic leader who balances technical depth with business pragmatism as we innovate to drive the next evolution of a beloved consumer brand in a rapidly evolving industry.

Please note: This role will require being in our SF office at least 2 days per week (Tuesdays & Wednesdays).

What you'll be doing:

• Be a hands-on leader, owning the strategic execution of our technology roadmap and balancing legacy constraints with forward-looking investments.
• Lead a high-impact, global team of 35 Developers and QA Engineers, and cultivating a high-performance culture.
• Oversee development and deployment across the stack, ensuring high uptime, fast release cycles, and minimal post-release issues.
• Partner closely with Product to shape and execute the roadmap and improve the quality of specifications and delivery planning.
• Champion and lead adoption of emerging technologies, including AI, across our application and within our teams.
• Be an effective cross-functional leader and collaborator with Marketing and Customer & Advisor Success, and a respected executive-level leader at US Marketplace and Ingenio.

What you'll need to be successful:

• 10+ years in engineering leadership with at least 5 years leading high-performing web and mobile teams, ideally in consumer tech.
• Experience leading tech transformations (e.g., legacy rewrites, cloud migration, architecture redesign).
• Deep expertise in building, engaging, and retaining teams and influencing outcomes. Experience managing global teams and leading QA.
• Deep knowledge and experience implementing best-practice engineering and QA processes, methodologies, and platforms.
• Excellent communicator. Able to translate complex technical ideas into business clarity and can engage credibly with executives, boards, and cross-functional peers.
• Thoughtful approach to applying AI in applications and in team workflows.
• Data-driven and highly analytical; comfortable using both quantitative and qualitative inputs to shape decisions.
• Collaborative leadership style with proven ability to build high-performing teams and influence cross-functional peers and executives.

Pay Transparency:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $285,000-$300,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
