Join Our Team - Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Technician

We are seeking an experienced Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic to join our tree service operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of vehicles and specialized equipment used in vegetation management, including trucks, chippers, aerial lifts, and chainsaws.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to keep our fleet and equipment in top working condition to support our crews in the field.

Your work will be essential to supporting the company's operational goals by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe, efficient workplace.

Requirements

Must have Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Diesel and Gas mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge in the following areas: Hydraulics, vehicle electrical, DOT inspections, heavy duty truck repairs including: brakes, oil changes, welding, basic to intermediate understanding of Aerial lift systems is a plus, any other mechanical services.

  • Coordinates with the Fleet Manager to complete assigned duties.
  • Performs equipment maintenance including, but not limited to, greasing, oiling, filter cleaning and replacement, and fluid replacement for equipment.
  • Monitor and review truck supplies and restock as needed.
  • Check and refill backpack water pumps as needed.
  • Grease the booms (following diagrams to ensure all grease points are covered).
  • Restock water supplies.
  • Inspect chipper tires and trailer connections.
  • Perform light checks on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Collect truck compliance items for the field or Supervisor.
  • Conduct safety inspections and perform oil changes.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Maintain chipper blades and sharpen chains.
  • Wash trucks using the pressure washing trailer.
  • Follow detailed instructions with precision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Document all work performed.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all company tools and manuals.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments

Required:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years maintenance experience in a shop, service truck or repair facility setting.

Preferred:
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, and create logs for services completed within our software programs
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide updates regularly to supervisor.
  • Maintain knowledge of CHP standards in regard to 90 days and bit inspections
  • Ability to plan and manage projects under the direction of Fleet Manager.
  • Timeliness, professional demeanor, and positive attitude.
  • Proficient with computers and mobile apps.
