Overview
Store Manager – 146 W East Ave., Chico, CA 95926
The Store Manager has ultimate responsibility for the overall business performance of the assigned store. This position manages the day-to-day operations and maintains the highest levels of retail standards at all times. The Store Manager implements new concepts, ensures compliance with legal requirements, and optimizes resources to maximize sales and profit, meeting or exceeding company financials and operating goals. The Manager provides leadership to promote a culture reflective of Save Mart's mission and winning behaviors and develops a store management team to ensure consistent execution of company programs and succession planning.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by training and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service
- Drive overall customer experience improvements and optimize processes, products, and services to increase sales
- Develop and maintain a customer-focused organization by modeling customer connection behaviors throughout the store
- Achieve total store financials (sales, profit and loss, projections, metrics, and analysis) by implementing best practices and innovative solutions
- Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports with a focus on accountability and high performance outcomes
- Oversee total store conditions (safety, food safety, asset protection, etc.) and ensure compliance programs are met
- Utilize resources to improve productivity, flexibility, and efficiency of labor and shopping experience
- Represent the store as the primary link to Save Mart leadership and ensure effective implementation of business plans
- Act as a company Ambassador to build the store image through community involvement
- Foster a positive workplace by improving work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention
- Oversee the overall inventory and ordering process
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Excellent leadership, team building, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, customer service, coaching/mentoring, training, decision making, delegation, negotiation, organization, administration and financial skills
- Knowledge of store operations (including compliance), store financials, hazardous materials and food safety rules, inventory management, employment law, relevant union contracts, interviewing and hiring practices; understanding of providing products and services in stores
Education
Four-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience)
Experience
Minimum one year as Assistant Store Manager – Customer Experience and one year as Assistant Store Manager – Customer Solutions (or five years equivalent management experience)
Other
Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours
Physical
Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis. Requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance
