Summary:

The AppFolio Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive training and support to new and existing office staff and resident managers, ensuring efficient use of AppFolio software, and maintaining standardized procedures across the company's residential property management operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Training and Development:

  • Implement and conduct thorough training programs for new office staff and resident managers, covering applicable aspects of property management, resident relations, and software usage.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to existing office staff and resident managers, including refresher courses and updates on new procedures or software features.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including manuals, checklists, and online resources.
  • Conduct regular audits of offsite office operations.
AppFolio Expertise:
  • Serve as the primary internal contact for AppFolio-related questions and issues.
  • Create and maintain standardized procedures for AppFolio usage.
  • Explore new AppFolio features and integrations, recommending and implementing improvements to increase efficiency.
Process Improvement and Documentation:
  • Regularly update processes and procedures to reflect software changes and company policies.
  • Develop and maintain AppFolio workflows for the residential property management departments.
  • Create and update documentation for company-wide use, including training material and processes.
Operational Support:
  • Assist with complex AppFolio tasks, such as unit transfers, application transfers, and workflow troubleshooting. Liaison between the accounting department and the residential property management team.
  • Provide backup support for office staff and resident managers duties during PTO or high-volume periods.
  • Conduct property and process audits as needed.
Compliance and Best Practices:
  • Ensure all training and procedures comply with fair housing laws and other relevant regulations.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate them into training programs.
Other Functions:
  • Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; requires a high level of organizational and prioritization skills; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
  • Required to sit for prolonged periods; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer.
  • Ability to establish and maintain customer oriented focus with callers, guests, clients, supervisor and co-workers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, kneel, climb, stand, stoop, and crouch when performing light maintenance and office activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities except as may be assigned from time to time.
Desired Core Competencies/Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience in property management field with an understanding of residential property management processes and best practices desired.
  • Two (2) years of experience with AppFolio property management software desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support staff effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Accounting experience working with general ledger and coding expenses desired.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in property management desired.

This position plays an important role in maintaining operational efficiency and consistency across our property management portfolio, ensuring that our office staff and resident managers are well equipped to provide outstanding service to our residents and effectively manage our properties.
