Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE: The main goals of this program are to support Hispanic Low Income (HLI) and first generation students as they matriculate through the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Working under the direction of the Director, the Professional Development and Transfer Coordinator helps coordinate mentoring, professional development, undergraduate research, and transfer activities of the CSC2+ program within the College of Agriculture. The Coordinator also works closely with the Professional Development and Transfer Coordinators from the Colleges of Natural Sciences and College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management (ECC).

The CSC2+ project is funded by the US Dept of Education, Hispanic-Serving Institutions Division.

Responsibilities

  • Essential Job Functions: Duties include providing individualized and intensive guidance and motivational support to CSC2+ students; orienting incoming students; offering academic advising; coordinating tutorials; assisting with study skills development beyond tutoring; providing personal counseling; and supporting career counseling initiatives.
  • Additional responsibilities include fostering student engagement in project activities; developing systems to document student participation; collecting and analyzing data for outcome reporting; identifying research and summer internship opportunities for program participants; and conducting outreach activities at Butte Community College.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university in agriculture, natural sciences, another STEM field, behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related discipline with relevant field experience.
  • Professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities, and to compile and prepare written reports.
  • Experience working in a multi-ethnic environment, and prior experience in advising (personal, career, and academic counseling), and recruiting is preferred.


Compliance Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Benefits
