Regenerative Ag Technical Assistance Provider I

Description:

The Regenerative Ag Technical Assistance Provider I (TAP I) will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, and verifying on-farm/ranch conservation practices as part of the CRARS conservation planning team. The role involves collaborating with producers, project partners, and stakeholders to develop land management plans across agricultural systems in California. The TAP I will report to the Program Manager for Conservation Planning and Education.

Key responsibilities include communicating with partners and stakeholders, providing administrative support for incentive programs and grants, participating in outreach activities such as producer field days, coordinating meetings, facilitating conservation plan evaluations, and supporting the CRARS Regen Ag TAP Certification Program. The position supports regional conservation planning and education programs, working with federal and state agencies, RCDs, and other partners, contributing to funding and development efforts.

Employment Standards
  1. Bachelors degree in agriculture or a related field (e.g., natural resource management, soil science, agroecology, environmental science).
  2. Experience with on-farm conservation practices related to soil health is preferred but training will be provided.
  3. Knowledge of sustainable, climate-smart, regenerative agriculture practices, and soil health principles.
  4. Certification as a Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) or Technical Service Provider (TSP) or interest in certification.
  5. Understanding of the NRCS 9-step conservation planning process and ability to learn multiple resource concerns.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with experience in reporting.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and navigate federal and state agency processes.
  8. Proficiency in computing, particularly Microsoft Office and GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Pro.
  9. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  10. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  11. Valid drivers license, automobile liability insurance, and own transportation.
Desirable Skills
  • Certification as a TSP or TAP in areas like Carbon Farm Planning, Soil Health, Nutrient Management, etc.
  • Experience with GIS or mapping software.
  • Masters degree in Agriculture or a related discipline.
