Lead Painter

Chico Spherion Staffing is seeking a Lead Painter to work for a local painting contractor. Responsibilities include selecting the correct tools and paints for projects, preparing walls and other surfaces before painting, mixing and applying paints, varnishes, and sealants for a lasting finish, and covering exposed objects and surfaces. Using fillers such as putty and plaster to repair cracks. Working hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Skills required include experience with brush, roller, striping machine, taping and masking equipment, spray equipment, sand and water blaster, air compressor, dry wall tools and equipment, hand tools, ladder, scaffolding. Ability to properly apply paints. Spraying experience preferred. Job requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to operate hand and power tools and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Frequent districtwide travel. Knowledge of and ability to mix paint to match colors.

Education: High School. Experience: 1-4 years. Qualifications: Must have 5+ years experience. Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in painting trade. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently. Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system for work order processing.
