  2026-01-31     FAR Inspections     Orland,CA
Description:

Join Our Team of Inspectors!

FAR Inspections is seeking motivated individuals to conduct residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. As independent contractors, you can earn reliable full-time or supplemental income on your own schedule. While prior experiencein mortgage field inspections is not necessary, excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. FAR Inspections, based in Reno, NV, has proudly served the industry for over 9 years.

What Is An Occupancy Verification?

Mortgage lenders occasionally need updates on their properties. As an inspector, your role will be to:

  • Verify property occupancy.
  • Report on the general condition of properties using a user-friendly mobile application.

Most inspections require exterior evaluations only, with about 10% needing interior photos after properties have become vacant.

We operate on a county contract basis, meaning you will cover inspections within your assigned area. In higher-volume counties, you may share responsibilities with another inspector.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform inspections that typically last only 5-6 minutes.
  • Complete assigned inspections within 4 days.
  • Assess general property conditions and determine occupancy according to industry standards.
  • Capture 9+ photographs of the property, accompanied by brief observations.
  • Utilize a short form in our application.
  • Manage extended periods of driving with multiple stops throughout the day.

Requirements to Apply:

  • Computer with internet access.
  • Reliable vehicle (good fuel efficiency is advantageous as you will cover gas expenses).
  • Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
  • Printer.
  • Ability to pass a standard background check with a valid driver's license.

Pay Structure and Hours:

This is a 1099 position with a flat rate for each inspection. Rates vary based on county and volume, allowing you to potentially earn between $30-$40 per hour. Depending on your location, you can expect to complete between 20-500 inspections monthly, which will translate to working 2-30 hours each week. Generally, lower volume counties offer higher rates, while urban settings come with lower rates but higher volumes.

As you build your reputation, increase your availability, or expand your coverage area, your earning potential will grow. Please note that there is no additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee.
