Description

Promotes and maintains positive, effective relationship with grower members, manages and is responsible for a Sunsweet Dehydrator and onsite Walnut Huller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervises the dryer work force to maximize labor efficiency while maintaining the highest degree of sanitation and safety standards and proper personnel practices.
  2. Directs the maintenance of dryer buildings, equipment and walnut huller to attain maximum operational efficiency.
  3. Develops and monitors dryer operations budget.
  4. Maintains effective control over variable costs.
  5. Manages all fruit receipts and shipments in an orderly and fair manner.
  6. Manage walnut huller ensuring that walnuts meet quality standard at every stage of the process.
  7. Maintain inventory of raw walnuts, processed products, and supplies.
  8. Communicate with walnut growers to schedule deliveries and provide updates on walnut huller delivery schedule needs.
  9. Represents Sunsweet Growers and/or Sunsweet Dryers in a positive, enthusiastic manner.
  10. Presents a professional image to members and non-members of
  11. Communicates and cooperates with other managers, field representatives and management persons of both Sunsweet Growers and Sunsweet Dryers.
  12. Ensures adherence to company work rules through timely and appropriate use of disciplinary procedures.
  13. Works toward constant improvement in safe work practices.
  14. Holds regular job site safety meetings.
  15. Completes and keeps current job safety analyses.
  16. Maintains positive employee/supervisor relationships.
  17. Supports and implements company's EEO commitment as integral part of employee management.
  18. Demonstrates commitment to continued personal and professional growth and development.
  19. Exercises tact and discretion in interpersonal contacts.
  20. Respects confidentiality of privileged information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires skills to properly use and train employees on safe forklift operation, bin/tray repair procedures, fruit handling/drying and all other company policies and procedure.
  • Specific attention to Safety Program and Food Safety compliance programs.

Ability to:

  • Requires the ability to interview and hire new associate employees working with your temp staffing agencies.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma with at least two years of college education or previous work experience with an emphasis on agriculture or business related fields desired.
  • Requires knowledge of agribusiness, dryer facility processes and orchard experience growing and development experience. Supervisory skills overseeing a workforce up to 110 people.
  • Experience establishing and operating within budgets and ability to use multiple computer programs on a daily basis.

Physical/Safety Requirements:

  • Tolerate extended periods of sitting at desk.
  • Ambient noise is louder than a traditional office setting.
