Summary:

The Waitstaff Supervisor oversees dining room operations within The Courtyard at Little Chico Creek, ensuring residents receive warm, attentive, and dignified service. This role supports the Food Service Manager by supervising waitstaff, coordinatingmeal service, and maintaining a welcoming, safe, and comfortable dining experience for the Residents. In the absence of the Food Service Manager, the Waitstaff Supervisor oversees kitchen and dining room activities and provides direct supervision to the kitchen staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and support servers to deliver consistent, resident-focused service.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, learn their preferences, and ensure meals are served with patience, respect, and compassion.
  • Assign sections, manage shift flow, and ensure timely service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any special events.
  • Coordinate all new hire training ensuring all new employees learn all Courtyard policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, resident assistants, and management to support resident needs, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
  • Address resident concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Maintain cleanliness, table settings, and a pleasant atmosphere; ensure accessibility for residents using walkers, wheelchairs, or mobility aids.
  • Ensure that all kitchen staff engaged in food preparation and service observe personal hygiene and food services sanitation practices.
  • Ensure that all food and beverage products are properly stored.

  • Cleans and restocks workstations.
  • Orders and takes delivery of supplies and food products in the absence of the Food Service Manager

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport items up to 25-50 lbs, such as trays, dish racks, and dining supplies.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to set tables, clear dishes, and assist residents.
  • Ability to navigate the dining room safely, including around residents using walkers, wheelchairs, or mobility devices.
  • Ability to assist residents as needed, such as steadying a chair or helping with mobility-safe seating.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining calm, friendly communication.

Core Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the Company's mission.
  • High school diploma or GED. Additional education and/or training preferred.
  • One (1) year or more experience as a Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor in a restaurant or licensed facility.
  • Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out assignments.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively. Demonstrated skill in correct grammar, spelling, and English usage.
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition, meal planning, and dietary needs of seniors.
  • Knowledge of dining room services and personnel management and scheduling.
  • The ability to anticipate needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask.
  • Proven comfort and experience to interact effectively with all levels of management, both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Demonstrated sound organizational, coordinating, and personal interface skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication, and attention to detail.
