Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant provides medical support services to the providers in order to ensure a smooth flow of patients through the medical clinic.Main Responsibilities And DutiesAssists patients calling and visiting the clinicCalls and escorts patients to exam area timely to promote continual flow of patientsObtains vital signs, height and weight and documents in Electronic Health Record (EHR) per policy and procedureMakes referral appointments and maintains referral in i2i logCollects and processes laboratory specimens per policy and procedureAssists with call backs to patients at provider requestEnters patient with designated problems into tickler file per protocolMaintains tracking in i2iTracksMaintains daily EHR worklistAssisting providers with patients and callsInitiates Care Plans and updates in EHR per Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH)Assists provider with examinationsAdministers immunizations and medications per protocolUtilizes appropriate technique in administering injectionsFollows infection control per Clinical Policy and Procedure guidelinesAssists with calls to pharmacies per protocolRecords timely in EHR per the corporation's policy and procedureInitiates Advanced Directives and updates as appropriate per policy and procedure for PCMHCleans, autoclaves, and sterilizes instruments, equipment, etc., used in clinicPerforms control tests of certain laboratory equipmentPrepares and stocks exam roomsEnters patient data into clinic tracking systemMaintains professional growth by attending all meetings and in-service trainingsParticipates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and staff meetingsTreats all clients, staff and the community with respect and courtesyUtilizes effective means to resolve conflictUtilizes effective verbal and written communication skillsFlexibility to work at other Ampla Health sites as neededPerforms other duties assigned by supervisorQualities & CharacteristicsMaintains a professional relationship, and positive attitude with co-workers, the public, patients and all Ampla Health's staff, Board of Directors and vendorsMaintains the highest professional ethics and is honest in dealing with people, is a model for all employees through his/her actionsStrives to learn more and is receptive to new challenges and opportunitiesDisplays enthusiasm toward the work and the mission of Ampla HealthProfessional Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCompletion of a Medical Assistant Training ProgramMedical Assistant Certification requiredCurrent CPR certification requiredEffective communication skills.
