POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for claims from initial billing to zero insurance responsibility. The Patient Accounts Representative will submit electronic and paper claims, and follow-up with the various payors when there is a delay in reimbursement. They review and resolve accounts that reflect underpayments, denials, or requests for additional information. They are available for patient questions and concerns and help assist them in resolving any billing issues. The Patient Accounts Representative is expected to communicate well at all times with physicians, other departments, co-workers and patients while maintaining confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patient accounts. These services and other duties as assigned further the mission of Enloe Medical Center.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
6 months Medical Billing Experience
Previous experience working with CPT and ICD-10 codes
Desired:
One year Hospital Billing Experience
Professional Billing Experience
Completed course in Medical Terminology or Coding
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
35 WPM Typing Certification (Current certificate within three years required.)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD10 coding. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with the various insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medi-Cal. Basic knowledge of computers and capable of using the computer for support functions. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
